Holyhead Revetment Integrity Survey
During May 2005, Pelorus Surveys were commissioned to conduct combined topographic, hydrographic and geophysical survey data along a revetment in the vicinity of two ferry terminals within the port of Holyhead.
The topographical works comprised acquiring data over predefined profile corridors from the top of the revetment to a point as close to the mean low water mark. The marine survey was conducted, utilising the survey vessel Pelorus Seacat survey vessel, during a high spring tide to ensure overlap with the topographic survey.
Working so close beneath gantries and linkspans presented many challenges in terms of access and vessel positioning. These challenges were overcome with the utilisation of a laser range and bearing system to accurately position the vessel when GPS coverage was poor. |
